In my practice Su-Zi Acupuncture I work with the natural healing power of Qi. I observe the person from a holistic point of view. Besides informing about your chief complaint, I also ask questions about your general lifestyle, diet and emotional wellbeing. Within a comfortable and safe clinic setting I apply therapies to best suit each patient’s constitution, needs and health concerns.
It is my passion and goal to dedicate my knowledge and experience to encourage natural healing, reduce or relieve pain and empower you in your own healing.
Treating the source
I palpate the points on the body before placing a needle. This makes the treatment interactive and one can give feedback while undergoing treatment. I use Japanese style acupuncture needles which are held above or very shallowly inserted so to minimize any discomfort or pain that may be experienced during treatment. Based on your case history and symptoms along with evaluating the pulse and abdominal diagnoses, treatment can include herbal treatment. The herbs prescribed are mainly plant based and dispached from a controlled pharmacy.
The therapist
After my Master in Japanese Studies at the University of Leiden, I followed my passion for travelling by making it my profession. It wasn’t until the dynamics that came with the responsibilities of a growing family that my interest in Chinese Medicine was awakened. Throughout childhood my parents would apply certain ‘family traditions’ whenever we fell ill. These practices were very different from western treatment. Seeking to know more about the philosophy behind these traditions I pursued an education in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Shenzhou University in Amsterdam. Simultaneously a 2 year course in Basic Western Medicine was completed as required by Dutch law in order to treat patients.
I am motivated by the holistic and powerful approach of Chinese medicine to continue combining my knowledge in both Chinese and Japanese cultures to aid and restore your physical, mental and emotional balance.
